New Catalyst 8.10 Drivers Bring Fan Speed Control

Just a few hours after the new Nvidia 178.24 ForceWare release, AMD posted its new Catalyst 8.10 graphics drivers. The new Catalyst, like with every other release, this one brings performance increases within certain applications as well as minor bug fixes and some new control panel features.

Mozilla’s Firefox 3.1 Beta 1: better, stronger, faster.

Although quoting the Six Million Dollar Man may be a bit of an exaggeration, the latest build of Mozilla’s web browser supposedly offers tasty features and even speeds up Internet access by a huge margin. Although specifically released to developers and Web designers for testing purposes, the general public is certainly welcome to download the browser at their own risk (release notes). However, curious minds will need to dig deep in order to get the beta’s full potential.

The Nokia gears are going into full overdrive ever since we’ve started the second half of 2008. On both the hardware and service front, we’ve seen the Finnish giant covering their bases well with the launch of their most recent flagship device, the Nokia N96, and following up, the public beta availability of their Ovi portal that brings their myriad of services together under one wing.

Apple Makes Two Great IPhone Moves

The past few days have seen Apple make two incredibly positive strides when it comes to iPhone development. If you haven’t heard, last weekend the company limited App Store reviews to those who had downloaded the product in question. And Wednesday the company announced that the blanket secrecy agreement on iPhone development was being lifted.

Last week I wrote an article critical of Apple’s App Store filtering policies. So it’s only fair that I respond to these two positive moves by Apple with some praise: Thank you, Apple, for making both of these changes and responding to the concerns of your third-party iPhone developers.

Dedicated hosting service

A dedicated hosting service, dedicated server, or managed hosting service is a type of Internet hosting where the client leases an entire server not shared with anyone. This is more flexible than shared hosting, as organizations have full control over the server(s), including choice of operating system, hardware, etc. Server administration can usually be provided by the hosting company as an add-on service. In some cases a dedicated server can offer less overhead and a larger return on investment. Dedicated servers are most often housed in data centers, similar to colocation facilities, providing redundant power sources and HVAC systems. In contrast to collocation, the server hardware is owned by the provider and in some cases they will provide support for your operating system or applications.
